Communication: Leadership roles require interaction with people. This quality is important regardless of the position or company. It is a skill that is required in everyday life. In the supply chain environment some of these people include employees, senior management, suppliers and customers. An effective leader must have the ability to communicate with various personality types and effectively get their point across to each person. Communication styles vary greatly from person to person and how you communicate with an executive to gain approval on a project will differ from the approached used negotiating a contract with a vendor or providing feedback to a member of your team. Part of successful communication also involves the ability to listed to others and promote two-way communication. An effective leader must also listen to their employees and engage them in the communication process.
