Compare and contrast essay

I will be comparing and contrast the tragic flaws of Simon lasher from, “paid up member”, and Ulrich von Gradwitz from, “The interlopers”. These protagonist both went downhill and had kind of a similar ending but they also had different tragic flaws. These are the tragic flaws that Simon from, “the interlopers”, and Ulrich from, “paid up member” had that were both similarities and differences.

The first similarities is that they both have bad endings. Simons bad ending is that he got caught with the murder of Dickie and goes to jail. Ulrichs bad end is that he gets trapped under a tree and gets eaten by wolves. The second similarities is that they both had lack of self knowledge . Simon lacked self knowledge because he just shot Dickie and buried which Simon ending up getting caught. Ulrich lacked self knowledge because he just went to find Georg and shoot him when he could had just waited from a distance and killed him. The last similarities is that they both wanted to kill the antagonist. Simon wanted to kill dickie because of revenge and hate. Ulrich wanted to kill Georg because of hate. Theses are the similarities of the tragic flaws they both had

the first contrast of there tragic flaws is that one ended up die while the other went to jail. Simon got caught with the murder of Dickie by the police officer so he went to jail. Ulrich had a different tragic flaw because he got killed by wolves. The second contrast is that they both had different reasons for wanting to kill the antagonist. Simon wanted to kill Dickie off of revenge because dickie stole his girlfriend and bought the farm that he wanted. Ulrich reason was that he wanted the land to himself but Georg was in the way so he had to kill him. The last contrast is forgiveness. Simon doesn't forgive Dickie for what hes done to him so he just kills him. Ulrich forgives George and they become friends before they die together.
