Controlling an Organization Paper
In our criminal justice system their growing issue that has a major effect on ever law enforcement agency. This issue is controlling an organization to produce the best possible outcome. The reading that is presented in this weeks assignment give some example of just how difficult an issue of controlling an organization within law enforcement. The dilemma that is presented here states how a newly promoted sergeant within this police department express how his management style will be one of total control with no outside influence or input from subordinates. In essence this manager suggest that he will operate a dictatorship and his orders are final. This type of control within an organization can have damaging effects that could reduce the effectiveness of the police department and their services. To understand this pitfalls and how to avoid issues like the one mentioned, this paper will examine, define, and compare organization control system advantages and disadvantages in management in the criminal justice profession.
Organization control system is defined as how managers and supervisors monitor the effectiveness and efficiently of a department or organization and how the members within these organizations are performing the assigned tasks. Within any business organization a good management control system should be flexible so managers and supervisors within the system can swiftly and accordingly. The organizational control system can be broken into three components of control feed forward control, concurrent control, and feedback control. Feed forward control in organizational management is used to anticipate problems before they arise so it will not become a problem later.
