The greatest value in a course such as Network Design and Management (TM585) comes from applying the concepts, theories, and applications explored during the class. This term project gives you an opportunity to select a topic in which you are interested and apply concepts and applications from readings, exercises, current best practices, and class discussions. Write a term paper in which you: introduce the issue, define the problem, search the literature, analyze the problem, offer possible solutions, propose a single solution, develop an implementation plan, and justify why/how your solution will solve the identified problem.

Your Network Design Project will be objectively evaluated on the following criteria. To facilitate your Network Design Project’s creation, please utilize the following eight (8) sections as sub-headings. The “Writing Quality and Flow” is the ninth section (worth 20 points) on which you will be evaluated… as it relates to the other eight sections.

Executive Summary Grade Allocation: 20 Points

Outline your network design strategy, mission and goals. Point out key success factors and/or major pitfalls you plan to avoid. Reference major actions or changes you anticipate, and how these may impact your strategy.

Be sure to include a good Mission Statement that meets the criteria of the RFP or defined scenario that you choose. This should be a standalone paragraph that clearly indicates the requirements and addresses how your plan will meet them, in general terms. Ensure that you have clearly stated what your Network Design Plan is designed to do, e.g., measureable goals by which your design will solve the scenario or customer’s requirements.
