Food Webs Case Study

MTH221

This is a graded assignment; if you try to use this paper as your own you will be plagiarizing and will get a zero on the paper. You must write your own paper; this is just to help you understand what is needed to complete the assignment.

Food Webs Case Study

Introduction

A food web is a graph used to show the relationship between predators and prey in nature.

Competition

Competition is basically the various animal and plant species that live in the same environment competing for their space. The information included would be things like temperature, vegetation, and humidity.

Food Webs

A food web is a directional graph showing the species in a region and how they prey on or compete for the area.

“The theorem for this is a graph is only an interval graph if the four-cycle C4 is not a subgraph of G and the compliment of G is transitively orientable” (McGuigan, NA, Chapter Chapter 13, Part III Graph Theory, Food Webs).

Boxicity

In all honesty I cannot describe in my own words what I have read in any of the case studies. I realize this will entitle me to a failing grade but I honestly have not retained enough through this course to make a precise speculation on the theories contained in the final paper readings. Though I used to be one of the top performers in mathematics in my grade and high school days, these theories and formulas are some I have not ever seen before this class. I will continue to learn the concepts and theories after this course but it will take much more time to retain and understand.

Trophic Status

I guess I was over my head going into this course but feel I still need to learn the content much better before trying to apply it in the real world environment.

Please do not take this as harshness toward you or the curriculum and I do appreciate the information I learned in the course.

Again, I do understand that I cannot be graded fully for this nor do I expect to be. I did feel I needed to at...
