Communication and Collaboration
In taking the assessments the Learning Pathways and Personality Spectrum, I have discovered that my top learning pathway is bodily-kinesthetic and my strongest personality is organizer. I scored the lowest on the personalities of the giver and thinker, and the learning styles of logical-mathematical and intrapersonal. The reason I find this so fascinating, is because seeing my learning style and personality on paper, makes it easier to understand myself.
For example, I have always had a difficult time communicating honestly in my relationships, from friendships, parents, and marriages. I had never given any thought to being more analytical and exploring other solutions, especially with my husbands. With both of my marriages, I gave up and didn’t try to make things better, I figured if it was meant to work out then it would. However, I didn’t stand up for myself with either husband, nor was I honest to myself about what I wanted and what I deserved. I usually do that now, give up and not express myself in a clear and precise manner in order to enable the other party to understand where I am coming from. Turns out, that those issues are the traits of my weakest two personalities, and there are ways to grow and overcome those weaknesses. For starters I can associate with classmates and co workers who are dominant in one or both of those personalities. My supervisor is the most analytical person I have ever met. She always finds new and different ways to approach different situations, where I would have just said, “forget it” and dropped the subject and walked away, she asks us our opinion and listens to what we, as a team, have to say, before making a decision. I would definitely classify my supervisor as a thinker personality.
