Tool Control

Tool control is very important. We as maintainers would lose a lot of tools and a ton of man hours if we didn’t keep up with our tools. That’s why it is very important to keep up with everything we take out to the flight line. For instance if we leave a tool box out on a bird, we should tell the other personnel we’re out there with that we left it out there for them. That way they don’t think we just left it out there without locking it up. There is no excuse for anybody to leave a tool out on an aircraft of any kind.

If someone leaves a tool out on an aircraft and then forgets about it, then when the bird takes off it could cause catastrophic consequences. The tool or part could put a hole in the bird somewhere, cut a line, or even worse make the bird go down into a ball of flames. Then lives would be lost, work would be doubled or even tripled. Then that bird can’t go overseas and fight the good fight. Kicking ass and taking names like they do oorah!! Coming in and making it clear for all the ground fighters. Bombing the ever loving shit out of the whole land and making the run for the hills.

Another good reason tool control is important is because if we lose tools, we will run out of tools to have in the shop and then we won’t have anything to work on the aircraft on. If we don’t have anything to work on the aircraft with it would never get fixed and be able to fly which means it wouldn’t be able to put rounds into the bad guys. That wouldn’t work out at all. We got to have aircraft to be able to fly. We have to support the ground forces that make our freedom possible. We are called the “land of the free and the home of the brave” for a reason. All of our combined efforts make it possible. And if we don’t have tool control our part in that phrase wouldn’t be possible. That’s why we got to have tool control. To make our aircraft fly. There is really no other reason.
