The Eucharist

The Eucharist is a very sacred ritual that is taken part in every liturgy. The Eucharist represents the Body and Blood of Christ in which he gave up and shed for us to save us from sin. Each time we take the Eucharist it symbolizes the cleansing of your sin as well as showing that you accept Jesus as your savior. The Eucharist is expressed in the Paschal Mystery and is the source of Christian life as well as shown that Jesus is the Bread of Life.

The Paschal Mystery is what the Eucharist stands for. The Paschal mystery is the Passion, death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Christ. The Eucharist is showing that Jesus sacrificed himself for us achieve eternal life. “Then taking a cup he offered a blessing in thanks and said: “Take this and divide it among you; I tell you, from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the coming of the reign of God.” Then taking bread and giving thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying: “This is my body to be given for you. Do this as a remembrance of me.” He did the same with the cup after eating, saying as he did so: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you”(Luke 22:14-23). The passage shows the seriousness and greatness of Jesus and what he has done for us. Receiving the Eucharist is a joy to Christians because they know that when they do take it their sins are forgiven and they have the chance to reach eternal life.

When we receive the Eucharist we are becoming one with Christ as well as becoming one with the Church. Most Christians understand the becoming one with Christ because we are taking Jesus symbolic body and blood wich is the unleavened bread and wine, but what most do not know is that we become one with the whole Church as well. “The Eucharist does not just unite us to God as individuals who are isolated from one another.
