Important Qualities A Successful Business Person Should Have

One of the most important elements for successful business is to fulfill customer’s need by constant change in response to customer’s change in preferences. In such a competitive world, it is very hard to survive as a business starter. Yet, J. Willard Marriott found his opportunity as he noticed customer’s need in cold drinks during summer time in Washington D.C.. Therefore, he began his own business by opening up a nine-stool root beer stand. Unsurprisingly, he succeeded by fulfilling customer’s need by providing cold drinks in hot days. However, he faced another obstacle during winter since people do not want cold beer in snowy days. The beer stand’s profit declined dramatically. Because of that reason, Marriott opened his first Hot Shoppe in order to cater customer’s changes in tastes. The results of his decision seemed to be well. Marriott’s restaurant attracted many other customers when his reputation built up gradually. After several years, he opened more and more Hot Shoppes in the district. His another action to change the way his restaurants were operated took place when there were more and more cars on the street. Marriott innovated the car-side service which made it much more convenient for particular customers. Being the first restaurant to start this type of service, he attracted even more customers, and his business grew larger and larger at the same time. Later on, he found out that he should also develop his investment on other types of business instead of holding his capital on restaurants. Therefore, he also expanded his business in motels, airline services, and theme parks as he founded Marriott Corporation.
