The author’s subjectivity is clearly against the way that some schools are being run, in regards to how and who they choose to staff their school with. You can hear this in the tone she uses throughout the whole article. Such as: “It is negligent to perpetually deny our most vulnerable student’s access to fully certified and experienced teachers through public policy (Strauss, 2013).” The author uses very strong words such as negligent, and chooses to put quotations around words such as highly qualified to emphasize the words. Most of Valerie Strauss’s articles are in regards to what is wrong with schools and or what steps the government is or isn’t making to solve the educational downfall. She has written many articles in regards to education and that seems to be her main focus.

In an interview she does with Larry Ferlazzo you can clearly sense her frustration with how the educational system is and how she feels the government isn’t doing what needs to be done to fix it. “The administration does what it wants, critics holler, and the administration keeps doing what it wants (Ferlazzo, 2010).” It’s not hard to clearly see and feel how she feels when you read her posts. She is against the way the current educational system operates in most regards.

I have a strong subjectivity towards providing the best education I can provide. Unfortunately I feel that our schools are lacking teachers who actually enjoy what they do and their work shows. As a teacher I feel like you need to be inspirational and a leader. Your students should want to learn when they come and be excited about learning. I feel that not all teachers take their job the way it needs to be taken. They don’t inspire and instead just treat it as a “job” that they need to “get through”. I know that I will not change the world by the small amount of time I will be spending with my students but I hope that as time goes on, the educators of today can work together to create the future...
