The studies show that both men and women have been concerned about birth control ever since the dawn of the history of human kind. Both in the ancient and modern world, most men and women tend to follow tradition birth control procedures through controlled sexual behavior such as abstinence, outercourse, withdrawal, predicting fertility, and breast- feeding. However, in a world like today where man is connected than ever before, birth control not only plays an important role in family planning but also has become an argument that is both advocated and opposed by different religious, political, and social groups.
World arguments FOR birth control
1) Population control
According to the United States Census Bureau (USCB), the world population was 7.152 billion by July 2013. It is projected that the world population will reach 8.1 billion by 2025, and 9.6 billion in 2050 and 10.9 billion by 2100. “Small differences in the trajectory of fertility during the next decades will have major consequences for population size, structure, and distribution in the long run” (United Nations Population Fund, n.d.)Thus the use of contraception could contribute, on a large scale, to the control of world population.
2) Fertility control
Increased birth rates have become a major issue of concern for developing countries in Africa and Asia. As a result, such countries have actively set fertility control programs at national level in order to elevate the quality of life at individual level. Today, “ (The Battle over Birth Control for Developing Nations, 2012).” This risk could be lessened immensely by promoting family planning services such as birth control and sex education.
