The cause of environmental degradation in China

The environmental issues are now become inevitable problem in all over the world. Especially in the recent decade, different regions have faced the disaster or the environmental crisis. The problems are more and more severe and need to be solved. The huge nation in term of territory and population, China, also faced the environmental problems. The environment seems to be like an instrument for people to reach their particular need. Therefore, the environment is roughly destroyed by science technologies or practices of people (McLaren, 2011). This paper would explain some human’s activities that cause the environmental degradation in China such as the manufacturing, agriculture, and transportation.

China has faced the environmental problems, which is including air pollution, water shortage, water pollution, soil degradation, etc. Presently, China has the highest level of toxic gas emission to the atmosphere (Bingheng, Haidong, Renjie, Songhui, & Chuanjie, 2011). Millions of Chinese people are suffered from them (Ploberger, 2011). There are only a third of 340 Chinese cities that are under the air quality standard and the highest level of air pollution is taken place in Beijing (Hay, 2012). Also, the soil acidification gradually becomes a serious problem. For example, the croplands in North China Plain and Taihu lake region acutely faced soil acidification. The more soil that becomes acid implies the fewer places to be able to crop (Institute of Science in Society, n.d). In addition, according to Hofstedt (2010), China also faces the problems associated with the shortage of water especially in the Northern part. There are 108 out of 666 largest cities in China that identified as a severe place in water scarcity (Hofstedt, 2010). Not only water shortage that is severe but also water pollution.
