Job Assigned: Executive Chef

Job Description: The executive chef, also known as the chef manager, is the person in charge of the kitchen. Everything that goes out of the kitchen is the responsibility of the executive chef in the eyes of the employer.

Actual Experience:

At last, it’s the Thanksgiving day. And I’m assigned to be the Executive Chef. I know it’s hard but I accept it. So I prepare and quantify the ingredients that we need in the kitchen. That Monday, I was late for preparing the ingredients and equipments that we need because of that so called Code red that LRTA’s talking about. I was late for about 20 minutes. Then that time, I remember that I was so nervous because I am thinking that maybe Sir Gapas will be so mad at me, then I arrived in the kitchen by 11:25. I approached Sir Gapas and explained myself and tell sorry. He accepted it. Then the pressure in the kitchen starts. We rushed everything. In cutting vegetables, meats and fruits. They start cooking and I’m cutting carrots, green mangoes, red bell pepper and onions. There’s a lot to cut so I must be fast in cutting it. So I took care our salad called “Ensaladang Mangga”. Sir Gapas help us in preparing and cooking all of our foods because it’s the final of our function. And gladly, 1 hour before the function. We’re finished in kitchen and it’s time to transfer the food in the kitchen, back of Le Café. Then after transferring it, it’s time to suit up our costume , themed Philippine Fiesta. We were wearing all black because we’re going to dance. A very short intermission dance. Then we danced, “Cha-cha Dabarkads”. Even though we’re all tired, we’re still trying to smile. After assisting and giving foods to our visitors. Finally, it’s done. After closing the door for visitors, we ate all the foods that are left and eat like there’s no more tomorrow.
