The "Lesson Plans" feature on pages 262–264 in the Morrison text focuses on infant/toddler program planning that is both "responsive and relationship-based." Review this section of your text and then analyze why this type of program planning demonstrates developmentally appropriate practices and appropriate curriculum for very young children.

As you have been learning, each of the developmental domains plays an important role in children's healthy growth and learning. For young children, there are many important physical and motor milestones during the early years. Summarize what you have learned from this week's readings that will help you assess physical development in infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Then, explain at least one way you could encourage and support the physical development of infants and toddlers through your teaching practices and/or the environment you create.

Early childhood professionals must be knowledgeable about basic health, safety, and nutrition management practices for young children, including procedures regarding childhood illness and communicable diseases. Review the Health, Safety, and Nutrition Readings in this week's Learning Resources and consider this scenario: A parent who is considering enrolling her child in preschool comes to observe your classroom. She asks what you do to ensure that her child will remain healthy while she is in your class. How will you describe your management practices in regard to safety, nutrition, and health, including your procedures related to childhood illnesses and communicable diseases?
