Document the following:

1. Choose a meal you often consume at a fast food restaurant.

A meal I often eat at a fast food restaurant would be the bacon cheeseburger toaster sandwich from Sonic.

2. Calculate the total calories, total grams of carbohydrate, fat, protein and sodium of the particular meal.

Total calories- 850

Total grams of carbohydrate- 59

Total grams of fat- 50

Total grams of protein- 40

Total grams of sodium- 1490

3. Did the above-calculated figures surprise you?  Why?

The only figure that surprised me is the total grams of sodium. It is hard to imagine that there is that much sodium in just one sandwich. I do know people are supposed to watch how much sodium is in foods and I wouldn't be shocked of the sodium levels in Chinese food just because I know that is high in sodium, but I just didn't expect to see it that high in the sandwich I was eating nor did I bother to look at the sodium before this assignment. I usually look at just the calories, and sometimes the carbohydrates and fat content. I will be much more away of total grams of sodium when I look at nutritional values from now on.

How often do you eat at a fast-food restaurant?  How often does the average American eat at a fast-food restaurant?

I am glad to say after finding out the sodium level that I do not eat at fast food restaurants very often. I dedicated my life to fitness and I want to be healthy and take care of my body, so if I do go out to a fast food restaurant it is usually the last option to go for. The average American eats at a fast food restaurant 4 to 5 times a week on average.

Using Appendix B in the class text, pick a recreational activity and based on your body weight, estimate how long it would take to expend the energy consumed at the particular meal.

I chose the recreational activity ice hockey. If I were to play hockey for 45 minutes, my gross expenditure would be 450kcal.
