Understanding organizational behavior is an important key to know and understand in any managerial position. There are three levels to understand; individuals, groups and teams, and the organization itself. Learning the different viewpoints on the individuals, groups and teams, and the organization will enhance a manager’s knowledge on behavior to be able to improve work behavior, which in the end also helps a business.

Studying Organizational Behavior

Why do some people have negative feelings towards working while others enjoy going to work and enjoy what they do? To understand why people act in different ways a manager must learn about different personalities, characteristics, attitudes, emotions, and moods. Individuals have learned from their own experiences whether it is nature or nurture. This leads to the feelings and emotions people have towards working. These feelings and emotions are able to change from a negative to a positive outlook. The way a manager leads an individual will change the way group thinks to the organization as whole on its performance. For example, my previous job my bosses characteristics are because of the way he grew up through nurture. The way he was taught to treat people, left him with employees that come and go within 6 months or less, employees that do not put all their effort in to work, and employees that do not trust or communicate with him. At my present job, my manager communicates with us so that we all understand with what is going on in the company, what we can do to make things work better, treats people by the golden rule, and most of all has gained our trust.
