In drilling solids control industry, mud desander is used as the 2nd stage drilling fluid solids control equipment. The oil drilling desander makes separations between 45 and 75 microns.

Recommendation of operating desander with cone:

1. Before the start of the desander cone sewage pumps, sreen must be installed on the suction side bottom to prevent particle agglomerates enter into the desander cone;

2. Bottom orifice opening degree adjustment

( 1 ) Underflow should spray in mushroom shape to discharge solid particles .This state can be adjusted by the underflow opening of the bottom stream to obtain. For example, the lower the proportion of input mud, the bottom opening of the orifice should be smaller, the greater the contrary.

( 2 )To check whether the end of the stream is mist by inserting a finger from the bottom stream, the suction air swirler feel appropriate. If the bottom of the stream is a kind of rope-like shape, should open outsole orifice until the insertion fingers felt the air sucked.

3. After the end of a drill hole , desander cone maintenance work should be done as follows:

( 1 ) A comprehensive overhaul of the cyclone inlet pipe , overflow pipe and bushings, etc.;

( 2 ) Lubricating the bottom orifice adjustment screw;

( 3 ) Rinse with water circulating throughout the cyclone group, to prevent accumulation of dry sand in the cyclone.

Hydrocyclones are major components in mud desander, desilter and drilling mud cleaner and assist most of their works. A hydrocyclone has a upper casing, a lower casing, a underflow mouth as well as auxiliary parts. The upper casing is an inlet chamber in cylindric with an inlet pipe on one side and a vortex tube in top middle as the overflow. The lower casing is a cone whose angle ranges from 15°~20° at the...
