Abstract
In this paper, the facts discussed on two different legal cases and evaluated. The
information given, and found in research is from several different resources which were
necessary in gathering all the evidence. The McDonald’s hot coffee case of an elderly women
being scalded by they unnecessarily high temperature coffee and her reward of a substantial
amount are discussed looking at the facts, ethical concerns, and legal standings in the court of
law. In the lost pants case and the ridiculously high amount of money sued for the perverse use
of law to cause, suffering through harassment and court costs is looked upon, and the associated
cost for the trouble maker himself. The ethical standpoint on the lawsuit of the lost pants was
unexplainable; in fact, the ethics were non-existent. The reason for negligent law, and that of
frivolous law are discussed as well showing that one evil cannot exist without the other to
balance the scale on both sides.

Even though both plaintiff’s had the right to sue, they were both suing without factual
justification for the amounts requested neither person suing could have earned or deserved
anywhere near the amount they sued for and both of our cases they requested extremely high
amounts of money in reciprocation. Frivolous lawsuits are a plague on today’s society where
every incident that causes an individual to be dissatisfied or displeased makes them feel entitled.
The law is in place to help those deserving, yet sometimes people whom have no factual or legal
supporting cause file for substantial amounts. The frivolous lawsuit can be used in certain cases
to delay, harass, or just embarrass an organization or and individual. Although in recent years the
