Diversion-oriented system is when one is give something productive to do versus being sentenced to a place that brings about more negative behavior. ex. Community service or restitution solidarity confinement.

Second, offer your perspective on whether a shift toward a “diversion” and away from a “punishment” (arrest, court processing, court trial, possible detention) model for dealing with juvenile offenders would be effective in the U.S. juvenile justice system.

My personal option is negative brings negative and positive brings positive. I don’t see how putting children in with adults, where they are being raped can teach a good behavior. I know that there are so children that commit Hanes’s crimes, but there is some physiological problem or something has happen to them for that matter it could be an adult. I think nowadays people don’t look for any other problem just go to jail and don’t pass go.

In Chicago in 2008 JISC Juvenile assessment centers after research of similar projects like it keeping as many offender’s from being father involve In the court system as long as they would obey case managers and completing voluntary service and activities. Early intervention and family oriented made a great difference proving giving them positive interaction works better than negative ones.

Finally, suggest how you think a diversion-oriented shift might impact case processing and case-flow management.

I think diversion-oriented shift would work for all involved and have a better effectiveness on juvenile case-flow management....
