Extra Credit: Windows 7

This project is worth 35 points extra credit. As you have learned, Windows 7 is the operating system that enables you to perform tasks on the computer. You use Windows 7 to customize the appearance of the Windows environment and to change settings related to your computer system. You also use Windows 7 to organize and manage your files and folders and to find help on specific procedures. Having a good understanding of Windows 7 helps you work more productively.

To complete this project, you will develop your own Windows 7 manual in Microsoft Word to contain brief descriptions and screenshots of the programs, settings, folder structure, and other elements that you modify for your personal use. This manual will become your personal reference source. For example, you can refer to the manual to remind you how to change your network settings or to search for files.

Windows 7 Manual Outline

Complete the following steps to create an outline for your Windows 7 manual. The completed manual will contain information about eleven Windows 7 features.

1. Open a new Word document, then save it as EC_Windows7Manual_[LastName], replacing “Last Name” with your last name.

2. Type Windows 7 Manual as the title of the document. Enhance the title with bold and a larger font size.

3. Press [Enter] once after the document title, then type Prepared by [Your Name].

4. Press [Enter] twice, then create a table consisting of two columns and 12 rows. To create a table in Word, click the Insert tab, click Table, click Insert Table, type 2, press [Tab], type 11, then click OK.

5. Adjust the widths of the table columns, then enter text into the table so that it appears as shown below:
