Overall Assignment Brief:

You are part of the strategic think tank for the Chef Information Officer (CIO) of the TATA Group (Tata). Tata is a global conglomerate with revenues and market capitalization of more than $100 billion. The Tata business spans across B2B and B2C segments.

The CIO is preparing for a day-long IT strategy session with the top management team of Tata. This will include the group CEO, the CEOs of the various business verticals, CFO and other senior colleagues of the CIO.

The CIO has requested you to prepare a report and a presentation each on 4 technology phenomena (topics) (see Table 1). Broadly, the CIO has requested to cover the key aspects for your topic, such as the following. This is a suggested set of areas to cover. If you find other aspects more appropriate, do use those.

1. Provide a brief but reasonably comprehensive definition and description of this topic.

2. How is this topic impacting business in general ?

3. What is the current size and projections for the near future ?

4. What benefits can this technology provide to the Tata business ?

5. What are the risks of deploying this technology and how to mitigate them ?

6. What risks does the business face of not embracing this technology ?

8. What are your top (max 10) recommendations in relation to this technology for the Tata business ?
