Abortion: Homicide

Abortion is a very strong word for some as well as a very argumentative topic. Abortion is a strong topic and always have been and will probably always be a controversial topic in which everyone will not agree. For many years it has been said that abortion should not be legal. Many people feel that aborting an unwanted child or killing an unwanted child should be against the law. If abortion isn’t considered murder and is legal then why is it considered double homicide when a pregnant woman is killed? A lot of people are unware of what abortion really is. Abortion is the induced expulsion of a fetus from the womb before it is able to survive independently. As an unborn child is a human being and deserves an equal chance for life, abortions should be made illegal. Abortion is not justified this unethical practice of terminated unborn fetuses ought to be outlawed and should be considered murder, because it leads to many health issues and emotional side effects that can arise after the procedure.

Since life of a child begins at conception, abortion is the same as murder. It is the act of taking a human life. Abortion is denying the unborn child its right to live and experience the world. More than 6 million American women become pregnant each year. 1.6 million American women terminate their pregnancies through abortion. (Relin, 1990) 1.5 million American families are waiting to adopt a child, there is no such thing as an unwanted child. Abortion is senseless when adoption is much better option for anyone in an “unwanted” pregnancy. Many years ago abortion prior to quickening (feeling of life) was a misdemeanor and a felony after that. In 1969 the British parliament passed the “Offenses against the Persons Act” that eliminated the punishment and dropping the felony charges.
