Abstract

Individuals come in all shapes and sizes with varying preferences and personalities. The majority of organizations involve interacting with people on some level, including co-workers, customers, and suppliers. How individuals interact with each other can be challenging at times. This can lead to the success or failure of an organization. Personality tests are a way of identifying different preferences and can help understand how and why people are the way they are. The following pages include a detailed analysis of the results of the Jung Typology Test identifying myself as an Introverted (I), Sensing (S), Thinking (T), Judging (J), or ISTJ, individual with an SJ temperament. By carefully deconstructing each preference, I am able to better understand by personality and why I do things the way that I do. The better I understand myself, the better and more productive I can become in my personal, as well as, my professional life.

Step 1: Personality Type ISTJ

There are many different ways for various personalities to accomplish tasks on a daily basis. “The fact is each of us has his own style, his own preferences, and his own ways of facing life’s challenges.” (Kroeger, Thuesen, & Rutledge, 2001, p. 4). Carl Jung recognized the necessity of understanding the different personalities of people, so he created a system to classify personalities based on preferences. Years later, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) ® ,based on Jung’s original theory, was born (Kroeger et al., 2002, pp. 6-7). According to Jung's and Myers’ theory of psychological types, people can be characterized by their preferences in four areas. The areas are Extravert - Introvert, Sensing - Intuition, Thinking - Feeling, and Judging – Perceiving (“Jung Typology Test,” 2014).
