Veeam and Why the Technology matters

Veeam is a leader in virtual machine backup, replication and monitoring solutions for both VMware and Hyper-V environments.  They are an international company that has been a major player in the virtual machine industry since 2006. They have over 120,000 customers (Growing by 3,000/month) worldwide and have won numerous awards from VMware and Microsoft for their best-of-breed solutions.  I have attached a pdf showing you the top 10 reasons to choose Veeam.  During our meeting you wanted me to not only share with you the Why Veeam, but also the Why the technology matters.  I have laid out some key buzz words (Disaster Recovery, Agentless, Recovery & Replication) that are imperative to an organization who is virtualizing today.  Listed below is also a link to the ESG ( www.esg-global.com ) study on Veeam and how it exceeds expectations against legacy Backup methods. http://www.veeam.com/wp-esg-veeam-customers-proved-how-important-availability-for-modern-data-center.html

Disaster Recovery

When backing up your virtual infrastructure for disaster recovery, there are several options available. You can back up the application data and files separately, you can rely on snapshots of your VMs and use SAN replication/backup, or you can use tools like Veeam Backup & Replication to store VMs in a backup repository and even replicate them continuously to a disaster recovery site. Choosing between these solutions is often a matter of budget, your requirements for recovering the data, and how the data is being stored. Often you will need to implement one or more of these methods for a complete backup plan. For solutions where you require backups for virtual machines, Veeam Backup & Replication is a clear choice for many reasons.

Agentless

Veeam is agent-free. It does not require any software to be installed in each VM for backups or restores. You simply need to install a proxy VM within your Hyper-V or VMware environment,...
