Week Three Literacy versus Life Expectancy

Life expectancy in countries around the world is a tremendous issue. Many countries believe that an increase in health care is the true cause of a longer life span, whereas others view money as the sole reason people live longer. However, data suggests that people will live longer because of an increase in education. Education is the sole basis for people obtaining higher paying jobs and enjoying the benefits of practical health knowledge. G-20 countries are generally able to provide better education systems and therefore have an increase in life expectancy over poverty stricken nations.

The review of articles from peers on the subject of literacy and life expectancy found some data on 30 nations. The Hogrefe Publishing of Germany found there is relation between life expectancy and literacy although the health level does not show relation. Economic growth did not show a correlation between education and life expectancy. Below is a graph designed by European Psychologist, indicating the evidence to back this data (European Psychologist, 2004).

The next question is if life expectancy encourages literacy. If individuals have the opportunity to have a longer life span does this encourage literacy, theory shows yes it does. With longer lives people want more out of life that requires better educations to improve income (European Psychologist, 2004).

Continue reviews show life expectancy does have an effect on education and health. If an individual is literate, the chances are the persons health will improve and so will the education level. This is evident by the study from Kanazawa, Satoshi people (European Psychologist, 2004).

This particular study shows wealthier people have a longer life span not just because they are wealthy but because they have the ability have higher education. If, a country does not have the modern technologies...
