LETTER OF MOTIVATION

As a child, I was always intrigued by the working of complex mechanisms and equipment. In school I found myself drawn towards subjects that required in-depth analysis and logical thinking. I was awed by their simple fundamentals which form the governing basis for a lot of machinery. In order to understand these concepts I took part in science fairs and practical workshops. This exposure taught me the importance of simple and practical designs. As an undergraduate student, I had my first rapport with the mechanical field in my first semester with the conventional lathes and the fitting and carpentry workshops in the institute. The first year courses apart from imparting the basics in Engineering Graphics aroused my curiosity in mechanical subjects and made me delve deeper in the same in the coming years. In the next three years, my skills in basic sciences were honed and my competency was put to the test. The various events that I participated in during our college technical activities helped me get a better feel for the problem at hand. The coursework exposed me to diverse topics ranging from thermal sciences and fluid mechanics to computer aided manufacturing and design. Furthermore, the various laboratory courses that I credited and workshops that I attended gave me an opportunity to practically understand whatever had been taught theoretically. In my second year I learned broad aspects of Mechanical Engineering that provided me with an impregnable and comprehensive background in the field. Subjects like Manufacturing Process Engineering, Mechanical Drawing and Computer Aided Design provided me useful insight into the principles, processes, stages and considerations required in the field of product design. The advantage of using computers for analysis and testing became evident after applying the theoretical knowledge acquired into software like ANSYS, Pro-E and Solid Edge. This course opened up a realm of possibilities in the field of...
