In-Class Assignment # 2 Consumer Psychology GNED 106 Prof. Alvin Gallay Centennial College 03/17/2014

In class assignment 2 The text states that there are three types of motivational conflicts. List them. Describe some products that you have purchased that meet these definitions. 1. Approach-Approach:  On many occasions I have felt drawn to two desirable activities that are mutually exclusive, during the second week of March, 2014 I bought movies and I had to decide between two good ones to watch in a day (Need for Speed and 300: Rise of An Empire).   One day I went to Apple Store and I had to choose between two products that I really wanted, these were: iMac and MacBook Pro. Sometimes when I go to buy chocolates at the supermarket I have to choose between my favorite chocolates Snickers and MilkyWay.

2. Approach-Avoidance:    My preferred drink is Whiskey, therefore, every time I hang out I bought a bottle, but after I always feel a little bad because of the side effects. Some time ago I wanted to buy a laptop and I bought an ASUS when I knew that Apple was the best. I bought a very cheap case to my iPhone, two weeks later it broke.

3. Avoidance-Avoidance:    Generally I do not drink soda, but once I bought a meal in McDonalds and was obligatory for me to choose between Coca-Cola and 7up. When I was a teen I did not like to write and always I had to buy pencil or pen for high school. Whenever I take pills I feel they stick to my stomach, therefore, I don't like to take them, but when I'm sick I have to buy analgesics or antibiotics.
