Communication and Collaboration

Based off my learning assessment I find myself being a hands on type of learner with not much motivation to read long entries of text or reading stacks of paper to get the information I need. I would consider myself an interpersonal type; for example I love working with a group or team with the same common goal in mind and utilizing the strengths of the team in order to reach that goal. Being on a team makes me feel like I can share all my ideas and not worry about too much conflict, it also puts the communication at ease with everyone because we are all trying to reach the same outcome. Things need to also be logical or in some cases mathematical, we can think outside the box as much as we want, but being realistic needs to be the grounding idea to keep things in perspective. A great strategy for effective group work and communication would be to have many hands on activities to show our work, that way things can be referred to easier and discussed with better accuracy. Having the respect for your fellow team members and their opinions will not only help the group, but also help you with brainstorming off of their ideas and not create conflicts that would set the group off course from the main goal.

As an individual I see my personality type as a person with a great need to care about others and their feelings. I tend to work harder for others in need rather than myself in need, if I can make another person happy that would make me happier in the end. I have never really enjoyed the more traditional sides of things in life; I have been more of the outside the box type of person with a very adventurous type of attitude. I seem to learn the best when things are more challenging, hands on, and well organized with a lot of visual examples and things that I can see the whole picture rather than try to paint my own. People would see me as a person that is dependable, creative, and caring with a very honest type of opinion.
