Introduction

Retrenchment is one of the many acts in a company job cycle. Another word retrenchment is redundancy which basically means cutting off staff that are not needed by the company at the particular time. This usually happens when a country is going through economical collapses, recessions, and technological advancements. Retrenchment is also done to save cost if a particular company is facing a deficit. Furthermore, in, my point of view I think that retrenchment can help a company can move forward in the basis of the growth in the globalized market. (Managing Retrenchment. (2005, August) For example P1is one of Malaysia’s network providers and they have reportedly carried out a term that is known as “redundancy let off” which saw over 90 being let off for in a bid to streamline their business and profitability. The main departments in the network providing company that were affected by this retrenchment were the service operation departments and network deployment department (Yapp, E. (2013, March 7) .But the retrenchment also has its negative effects personally towards the staff that are being retrenched. The department that plays the most pivotal role in retrenchment is of course the human resource department. The decisions made by staff in this department can affect other staff who maybe need the job more than anyone because of personal problems in their life, so the decisions made has to be accurate and has to be done in a proper manner and my aim is to justify two ways which company can prepare itself before implementing retrenchment.
