Should guns be banned within the US?

Introduction:

“Perhaps now America would wake up to the dimensions of this challenge if it could happen in a place like Littleton and we could prevent anything like this from happening”

America did not wake up. So many times before gun events had occurred in America but nothing seemed to be changing. “No more” was the expectations of many people but more happened. Whatever government was in power none could attack this issue, these horror stories continued to run through the media and destroy families.

Countries around the world seem to be taking action against guns as many of them see it as the number one issue for deaths. In Africa there was the destruction of 24,000 small arms, which today seems to be a worldwide concern where in Cambodia there was the destruction of 6,000 arms, 1700 in Mozambique and 10,000 weapons were destroyed in Brazil. All around the world governments are showing their support to the regulation to firearms, where in particular this is of the small arms trade, where this is a trade that kills an estimated 50,000 people every year.

In the US there are approximately 200 million privately owned guns, showing the mass amount of guns that people in America are able to be in possession of. This statistic references the fact the on average the number of guns owned is clos to being one gun per household and in some places there can be more than one guns per household. This is highly affecting the children who are living within a gun-infested society, where children between the age of 16 and 19 have had the highest handgun victimization rate among all age groups. This is no surprise to the average of one gun per household that children can easily trample across one and as a result of this be affected by them.

The essay will examine both sides of opinion to the banning of guns, probing the main factors to why on average 9,000 to 12,000 people are killed every year in America by firearms. The...
