A client-server network is composed of one or more server computers that waits for requests of data from the client computers. The server then responds with the needed information which is transmitted to the client. In this type of network, there are usually several client computers. The clients send requests for information to the servers. The clients then wait for and receive the replies. In this instance, this type of architecture works best because information needs to be communicated quickly. The file types are large, so extra bandwidth will most likely be necessary to help keep information flowing smoothly between server and clients. Each of the new computers that the company wants to implement would increase the work that a single server would be doing, so having an extended start topology would be helpful because other servers could be added to increase the speed of the network. Also, adding a client to the client-server design is relatively easy and does not compromise the information on the server or servers. In fact, adding a client computer only has the effect of increasing the number of requests send to the server.

Case 3-2:

The type of architecture that would be the best use for a network such as this would be the client-server type of network. EBiz.com has many workstations that are active on their network. Each of these workstations would be a client that sends requests for information to the servers. In turn, the servers would wait for the request of information and then return it to the respective client. The peer-to-peer setup of this network would be a benefit to the computers because the clients could share information by communicating the data between themselves.
