McDonalds Corporation is the World’s largest chain of hamburger fast food restaurants (CITATION) which began in 1940 and was originally formed as a franchise company in 1955 After Ray Kroc pitched the idea of opening up several restaurants based on the original owned by Richard and Maurice McDonald. It went public in 1965 and introduced its flagship product, the Big Mac in 1968.Today McDonald’s serve around 68 million customers daily in 119 countries across 35,000 outlets and have one of the world’s widely known brand names. In 2008 McDonald’s sales hit $70 billion Company wide with average sales per store of $2.2 million. The seventy billion In volume comes from serving over twenty-one billion customers in 2008 meaning that, on average, every person on the planet visited a McDonald’s three times last year

The main target customer for McDonald’s includes parents with young children, young children, business customers, and teenagers; perhaps the most obvious marketing for McDonald’s is its marketing towards its children and parents of young children. Ronald McDonald was first introduced in 1963 and marked the beginning of their focus on young children as a crucial part of their ongoing business. Parents like to visit McDonalds because it’s an easy good treat for the kids, and the kids enjoy the cartoon like and playful atmosphere it brings in. Business customers may stop during the workday and can count on fast service, and consistently good food. Another major target of McDonalds marketing is to their young teen adults. Teens find the value menu especially appealing and McDonalds markets their restaurant as a cool place to meet with friends and also indulge in work at the restaurant (The Times 100).
