400 Word Journal Entry

I believe that the “N” word is much more offensive than other racial slurs because of the strong history of hate and suffering behind it. Compared to other racial slurs, ones that I will not even start to get into. The “N” word has much more depth behind it, the pain and suffering, the amount of pain and suffering that someone who had not directly been inflicted by could only imagine and not truly feel or understand. The “N” word is directly linked to slavery. Slavery in my mind is the worst possible thing anybody could go through, other than being brutally murdered, even then I am not too sure than being brutally murdered by someone could compare to being made a slave your entire life. Being a “Black” or African American in America during the era of slavery meant that you where brought to America to be a slave and had no other option than to be some ones slave. If a black person wanted to ride a bus they were forced to sit at the very back. African Americans were also not allowed to be in a restaurant, if you were an African American you were not allowed to use the same washroom as a white man. Being black in America also meant you were not allowed to vote during an election. Although the “N” word is more offensive, in my opinion given its history, any other racial slur may be just as offensive to different people or people of other races. Through my eyes someone can say racist things towards white people and I don’t believe any of them could ever be as offensive as the “N” word. Although I feel that way about racial words directed towards people of my race or colour, I cannot speak for those who come from different backgrounds and have had the pain of racial slurs inflicted upon them. I am not too familiar with other racial slurs other than the “N” word or cracker, but by doing some research and seeing what people had to say about the “N” word being the most offensive racial slur I was surprised to find that eighty percent or more of...
