Why is it important to be on time to your work center? It’s important because you have certain tasks and duties to perform and being late can push back the mission flow and potentially end up in a disaster. Now, I’m not saying that arriving to work one or two minutes late is going to push everything back and completely corrupt the mission flow, but it can make you complacent and get you in trouble. When you arrive a few minutes late and no one to include your supervisor makes a comment about you being constantly late to work, then you will be put in the mindset that it’s ok to be late because no one has made a mention about you being late to work before. But in reality, that’s not the case, you have made an obligation, a signed contract stating that you will be on time and perform duties to your outmost ability. Yes there will be times when situation arise that you will be late to work, but being constantly late is just showing poor work ethics and makes you to be perceived as a lazy person and someone who has no interest in keeping a job. Being on time to your work center reflects your commitment to your job, how it can affect productivity – whether productivity increases or decreases – how it can affect your job, and mainly because it is your duty to show up on time to work each and every day.

So let’s start with the first pointer: commitment. Being committed to your job means that you’re willing to go and give it your best from the time the work day begins until it is time to go home. When you show commitment in a work environment by doing your best and working hard from the time you clock in till the time you clock out, you can motivate others around to do the same, which in return will create a strong working environment and may potentially increase the productivity in that specific work center.
