The use of Social media as a tool for politics.
Today’s society is currently at a time where information and communication are almost instant and also easily accessible to anyone with the right technology, this has enabled a larger number of individuals to share ideas and data with each other regardless of distance and/or location, creating greater globalization and social consciousness. The media embodies the ideals of individualism and freedom of opinion and expression, which are in essence basic human rights (United nations organization, Article 19) as it aims to provide unbiased access to information and create an unfiltered communication system for the general public, In other words the general population are given the opportunity to voice and share their opinions without consequence. This has, on many occasions, led to several disputes and conflicts between groups of individuals bearing different opinions such as opposing political parties, government officials and public representatives etc sometimes leading to outbursts of violent acts, loss of lives, and damages to public and private properties. Thus creating the notion within certain societies that government officials and federal bodies should be able to establish some form of control to regulation and create some restrictions over the information dished out by the media outlets within its sovereignty, to an extent these have already been put in place. Arguments and debates have been thrown back and forth about moral standpoint of these restrictions, on one hand are the government officials behaving in an unethical manner and attempting to rid the people of their freedom of speech and to an extent control or impose their own beliefs into society for their own personal gain, in the same manner, some believe that by creating some form of restriction, there is less aggravated content being shared and poured into the public, protecting...
