Corruption In Our Government

Our government has lost touch with its citizens on all the levels the local, state, and federal. It almost seems like our government isn’t about “We the people” anymore. We have been accommodating to foreign needs than our own, and we have been getting taxed more. There is more so much crime and drugs in our cities and towns that it’s tearing apart families and destroying our foundations of government. I believe all of us want to believe that our government can be good and turned around, but until somebody starts cleaning house, our beliefs are nothing but a dream.

Politicians like Scott Walker (who represents the state of Wisconsin) are walking away from the situation at hand with trillions of dollars of our public money. Latest talk on the news was “Scott Walker illegally transferred $40,000 from his campaign fund to his criminal defense account on the last day of the year. With $200,000 now in the fund, he has clearly demonstrated his willingness to heavily “lawyer up” against any local authorities.”(Force Change, 2014) Six members of his administration have been convicted of theft and fraud. Scott Walker has denied all knowledge and recognition of such crimes and is trying to hide behind his lawyer and his money to deny it, he is not a man we can trust and he needs to pay the consequences.

Besides corrupt politicians there are also plenty of corrupt police. The radio constantly brings up how officers have been charged with drug possession, abusing citizens, or fraud. The case they were discussing about today was about two officers Edmond Robles and Ian Furminger. The jury came back with them being guilty of wiring fraud. “Furminger and Robles were charged with conspiracy to commit theft from the Police Department, theft of more than $5,000 and conspiracy to violate civil rights.”(Tim Ryan, 2014) They also got accused of depriving citizens of San Francisco of their true services including two counts of wire fraud, and...
