When it snows 30 centimeters deep in Canada the boots and the toques are put on and the shovel is retrieved from the closet, however on the same day the thermometer measures a 27 degree mark in Guyana. (Johnson 78, 79) No clothing is put on; it is rather taken off and complimented by a cool brew and barbeques. They are both beautiful in spirit but yet as distinct and opposite as ever. The purpose of this essay is to contrast the formal education, work ethic, Geographic’s and the politics of both countries; Canada and Guyana.

First the discussion starts with People. No matter where you visit or travel on this beautiful sphere called earth people and not alike, cultures are among the main reasons for this. Culture can be defined as; “Development or improvement of the mind by education or training. The behaviours and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic, or age group, and etc...” ("Dictionary")

Education in Canada is a must and is regularly updated and scrutinized by the government and third parties in attempts to make it more accessible and better for the next Canadian youth generation. For example Statistics Canada regularly posts papers on how public schools perform overall. “In 2007/2008, the graduation rate for publicly funded secondary schools stood at 71.0%, down from 71.3% in 2006/2007. “ (Riley 10) Canada takes a very firm stand on education but treats it more as a percentage and statistic.

On NationMaster.com Guyana is number 79th on a 161st in a category that list countries statistics about public education spending. This means that not only does Guyana fund more public education sectors it can also be translated into investing more for the future and well being of its youth, the leaders of tomorrow. Guyana has a strict code of conduct along with a strict uniform policy. A 50 percent pass is not good enough. Standards are held in high esteem, and discipline is used as the most important means of getting there. “In 1976 the government...
