Management Structures

There are advantages and disadvantages when it comes to different organizational structures. There may be organizational structures that some may benefit from while others do not. Departmentalization advantage is being able to have employees trained on a specific issue and being able to assist individuals who fall under that specific issue. This can be helpful sometimes because employees will have the knowledge and expertise to fully assist. The disadvantage of departmentalization can occur when individuals have more than one issue that may not be handled by the same individual. This can be inconvenience and cause confusion with the client especially, if rules are the servicing dates may differ.

Matrix Organizations advantage is having the ability to have different areas within an organization work together to fully assist the client. It can be aggravating for the client to communicate his or her issue repeatedly to be fully assisted. Matrix organization structure is more of a team environment that includes more than one supervisor. The disadvantsge of matrix organization is that with multiple supervisor employees can get conflicting information because we all have our own way of doing things that others may not agree with.

The project team advantage can be time. When there is multiple individuals working in a group on a specific project the amount of time for the project to be complete should be must shorter than employee working on a specific project alone. The disadvantage of the project team is lacking a leader that have good guidance and leadership skills. Without these factors a team can fail and the organization would lose time and money.

The collegial model advantage is that it allows individuals to get paid by their performance within the organization. This can be good for the employees that work hard and be used as a motivation to continue doing their best. Working in a collegial setting can be overwhelming...
