Static or Dynamic

A company’s network administrator wants to configure an ip rout between two routers. Between static and dynamic routing, the company’s administrator will have to decide which would be the appropriate choice.

To decide the appropriate choice one would have to first understand the difference between static and dynamic routing. It is fair to say that both static and dynamic routing are ways in which to rout.

For the scenario in regard to the company administrator, the goal is to make an IP rout between two routers. Static routing can be used for small networks that require only one or two routes. This is often more efficient since a link is not being wasted by exchanging dynamic routing information ("Static routing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia," n.d.). Therefore if all the company administrator wants to do is configure a route between two routers then static routing is what they will want to configure. This gives the admin, the ability to manually configure the rout.

On the other hand with dynamic routing the router is equipped to learn from other routers and offer a fault tolerant operation. As well as automatically creates a route tables as appose to manually configuring.

In conclusion the company admin should use the static method if he wants to manually configure an IP rout between two routers, but if the company admin wants to establish a reliable rout for the two routers and is not worried about being responsible to configure the connection manually then they should go with the dynamic routing method. Once again with the dynamic method the router configures itself and has fault tolerant features.
