Case 1.2

​According to Pbs.com, nearly half of Americans who once believed in the American dream (defined as the belief that if you work hard, you’ll get ahead) think it no longer exists. Similarly, close to half of all Americans over 18 think their generation is better off financially than their children’s will be. I personal believe the American Dream still is alive and well. There are almost 28 million small businesses in America. Over 50% of the working population works in a small business. Small businesses have generated over 65% of the net new jobs since 1995.

According to Bloomberg, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs who start businesses fail within the first 18 months. But that doesn’t take anyway from the dream. These people may have failed, but they still had a dream to start something and may still in time be successful. Optimism is alive and well. Eighty-four percent of investors believe the American Dream is still achievable, according to a new survey from Wells Fargo. Nearly nine out of 10 non-retired investors remain optimistic they will reach the American Dream. Their definition of the dream includes the ability to afford a home, live comfortably in retirement, and enjoy meaningful employment. Interestingly, exceeding their parents’ standard of living was the least-cited component.

​I do not believe that ethnicity is a problem for small business owners in the mainstream. Like in the case you can see people coming from Italy being successful in Virginia. I see that people are looking for good service and products. Consumers want to be overall happy with their experience with your company, rather then the ethnicity of the person helping them. There will still always be a group of people who are bigoted and racist. You cannot change that fact, but only provide the best service you can so that these people feel like they are only hindering them self from getting what your business has to offer.
