Sherlock Holmes is a successful franchise because it is considered a benchmark for all the crime novels and the movies. The characters, dialogues, premises and the stories are still adopted and used in the movies, novels, and graphic stories. Some have provided a dramatic adaption of the characters and some have dared to go in the comedy zone where it may not be accepted whole-heartedly. In this essay, I have focused on the movie, Without a Clue which is a parody of Sherlock Holmes stories. I believe that this movie is the best comic adaptation of Sherlock Holmes because it has funny dialogues which are utilized from the novels. Also, it has a good story with a strong star cast which makes the movie interesting to watch. The essay will provide a deep analysis of the satire that has been used in Without a Clue to poke fun at the Sherlock Holmes’ novels. Also, this essay will examine any social messages that are conveyed through this movie.

Watson does all the work; where, in other stories, Holmes does all the work.

In all the stories, Watson is just Holmes’ sidekick. He is a goofy character in the movies. Holmes solves all the cases and Watson just spectates.

Watson’s character is presented in the similar scenario as that of Doyle when Holmes is killed in the stories.

Doyle was tired of Holmes’ character and killed him in “The Final Problem.” Public outcry forces him to bring the character back to life. Doyle felt like Holmes’ stories were taking his take to do more important things.

The timing of the dialogue is completely different from the novel. Also, Holmes speaks them too often in the movie.

Also, the movies tries to show that people will believe in anyone as long as he is public figure. So, they are kind of stupid
