We met through SMS since you texted me first. You told me you got my number from the radio. You were so annoying back then, kept on asking me my name and where I lived. You called me later that night, and I managed to answer it. 9:30, I think, you asked me through phone if you can court me. I told you a bunch of times, “No.” But then I remembered what I and my best friend talked about beforehand: Go with the flow. Then I told you, “Let’s give it a shot.” We talked about each other until past 12 in the morning. To keep the long story short, I was impressed by you that night, but mind you, I have a crush on someone back then.

That day was our scheduled trip to Manila for good. I answered your 4am call, greeted me a good morning. You told me your mom called you from an international line, so you always wake up that early. I told myself, “You have an effort.” Later, you told me you were going to skate with your peers. I told you, okay. By 7am, I woke up, and exactly that time, you called me once again.

By 4, later afternoon, you called me, crying on the other line. You told me your mom passed away due to Cardiac Arrest. To be honest, I pitied you. I was there as a friend. I comforted you. Then out of the blue, you asked me, “Can you be my girl?” I want to laugh at that moment for some reasons, but I didn’t since you were crying and all. First, you still managed to ask me that question in your situation? It’s like, you don’t mind if your mom’s dead and you’re going to ask me that. Wuhu.
