In relation to community development principals define the term community development worker/practitioner and outline with relevant example key skills, knowledge, behaviour and core qualities of required by the practitioners.

Community development worker/practitioner is a person who undertakes the community development as their main role. This person might be paid or not paid but their main role is to facilitate the process of development sustainable and empower communities within the principals of community development and recognize the required standard.

There are several skills, knowledge and core qualities that the community practitioner is required to have which include

Skills

Should Facilitation- this is one of the skills that the practitioner should be having where he/she should be capable of bringing many people together and ensure they are participating all together as a team.

Effective communication- this is another skill where the practitioner should be having good communication skills especially in listening, interpreting and explaining.

Reflection- the practitioner should be able to support people and examine what has happened to them and be able to learn from the problem.

Motivation-the practitioner should have good skills in motivating people and encouraging them.

Knowledge

* The practitioner should be able to have knowledge on the community development process, their principles and practices.

* The practitioner should be having knowledge on the community history and strategies that normally affects the community in both locally and in national perspective.

Behaviour

* The practitioner should be having the commitment of translating the community development principals and values into a practice (Bartley, T. 2003).

* Political awareness- the practitioner should be having the awareness of the local politics and they should never be involved with them at any moment.
