A recent Supreme Court Case that was decided was the ROBERT R. TOLAN v. SGT. JEFFREY W. COTTON case. This case was brought about on New Year’s Eve of 2008, which followed an appeal being filed by the Tolan’s on April 25, 2013, and a decision was made on May 4, 2014. This case came about when Sgt. Cotton fired three shots at Robbie Tolan hitting him once in his right lung.

“The following facts, which we view in the light most favorable to Tolan, are taken from the record evidence and the opinions below. At around 2:00 on the morning of December 31, 2008, John Edwards, a police officer, was on patrol in Bellaire, Texas, when he noticed a black Nissan sport utility vehicle turning quickly onto a residential street. The officer watched the vehicle park on the side of the street in front of a house. Two men exited: Tolan and his cousin, Anthony Cooper.” ("Us Supreme Court Summary Judgment In Use Of Force Cases", 2014).

I have been engrossed in this case from the time when first enquiry about it. The first thing that in fact came to my concentration was cultural profiling. I recognize that the United States has a massive problem on their plates with making an attempt to regulate this issue. It was attention grabbing for me to see a state try to create a state regulation that would take the place of centralized regulation. Being in school for criminal justice, I can see this suitable enough to be a cultural profiling problem. Deprived of certain guiding principles in place, this would and could possibly be a start to a lot of unrequited queries. The state that I am located in is Tennessee. Tennessee as well has an extraordinary populace of refugees, so I am interested in as to in what manner this will turn out in the conclusion and how it could possibly affect additional states.
