Chapter III
Methods and Procedures
This chapter presents the locale of the study, Population, sample size, sampling technique used, data gathering procedure, intervention, data gathering instrument, and data analysis evaluation of results.
a. Locale of the Study
Unat-Bagacay Elementary School is located at Unat Ibajay Aklan. The school is nearby the municipal road. It is compose of 11 rooms, 7 are classrooms, with a library, principal office, canteen and the H.E to cater pupils’ needs.
b. Population
The total population of Unat-Bagacay Elementary School is 216 pupils. The respondents of the study are the Grade 5 Daisy with 33 pupils of Unat- Bagacay Elementary School.
c. Sample Size
Out of 216 population of the Unat-Bagacay Elementary School, 33 are the respondents who belong to Grade 5 Daisy of school year 2014-2015.
d. Sampling Techniques
The sampling technique we use in this study is the purposive sampling technique specifically homogeneous sampling
Homogeneous sampling is a purposive sampling technique that aims to achieve a homogeneous sample; that is, a sample whose units (e.g., people, cases, etc.) share the same (or very similar) characteristics or traits (e.g., a group of people that are similar in terms of age, gender, background.
e. Intervention
The SQ3R is introduced to the Grade 5 Daisy of Unat- Bagacay Elementary School, as a tool to develop the students poor study habits and study skills.
