At the beginning of the the article, the author attempts to solve a problem how to make a sustainable growth rather to undermine a company’s current market position when a company attempts to grow. In fact, the growth imperative may have negative effects on its strategy based on the perspective which provides little guidance about how to sustain value creation. The most important theory offered by the author is to seek new objectives or ways rather to develop competitive advantages.

After I read the article, I realize the importance of corporate theory. A good theory should incorporate foresight about an industry’s future., insight into internal capabilities can optimize that future, and cross-sight into the assets can be set up to craft value. It means that a company should think about what to do and how to do is the best way to develop in the future rather to just focus on the present growth. For example, Disney’s theory is full of power. It has enhanced vision which is like a tool that they can duplicate used to make choices , acquire, mix together complementary assets, activities, and resources. In addition, sometimes, a map of vision is also effective way for a company to defined its assets. In terms of Disney, it consists of many parts such as theatrical films, TV, music, publications, magazine, comic strips, Disneyland, and merchandise licensing. Theatrical film is the main role in the whole theory, and other parts are the new after creating the films to attempt to have deep developments. The core of the theory people should pay attention to is every part not only have its own creation, but also have closely connections or dependent on each part. It is easy to understand that the foresight like disney’s appendix parts can be predicted the favor of the future customers’ taste or consumer demand, foresees the development of relevant technologies, and even forecasts the competitive behaviors of rivals.
