1a.The artist portrays the expansionist advocates point of view in the image because the American settlers were destined to expand through the continent going west to the Pacific Ocean.

B. One push factor that was Manifest Destiny because they believed that god had blessed the United States. A major pull factor was when the first discovery of gold was found in California, many settlers were attracted to move westward in hopes of becoming rich.

C. It increased sectional tensions because reform movements were organized after the war of 1812. Because women, inspired to improve society by teachings of protestant ministers. Also many of woman’s lives were changed in the market revolution, which they were increasing separation between home and workplace and fostered gender and family and roles and expectations.

2a. Women, blacks, and Native Americans were excluded from the right to suffrage. They organized reform movements like the abolition movement and women suffrage.

b. One of the most challenging things they faced was abolitionism, anti-slavery movement. Mainly because the southerners were against the abolition of slavery.

c. They did mostly achieve there goal on getting women the right to suffrage but failed on getting rid of slavery. Although women also weren’t treated equally in a workplace mainly surrounded by men.

3a. It contributed to strong differences over the expansion of slavery into territories. White southerners though of African Americans as an inferior race and slavery as a positive good.

b. Multiple attempts with political compromise made tensions worse because they failed to calm the tensions over slavery. It the trust between sectional leaders and the election of 1860 and secession of many southern states.

c. a minority group that affected the American expansionism was the imigrants coming into the new country for example the Irish.
