The Effects Of Bullying On Children

Bullying is known as being mean to someone over and over again. There are different types of bullying, including: Cyber bullying, physical bullying, and emotional bullying. Cyber bulling occurs when someone uses the internet to harass others (What is Cyberbulling…). This often occurs on popular social media websites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Physical bullying can occur anywhere. Most often it occurs at school. The bully will physically harm the victim. The bully may do this because the victim is scared to defend themselves. Emotional bullying is the hardest to detect but also one of the most common. Emotional bullying is defined as intentionally causing someone distress resulting in low self-esteem (Emotional Bullying). Some examples of emotional bullying include: Spreading rumors, talking about someone behind their back, intentionally excluding someone, and hurting someone’s feelings. Over 3.2 million of students are bullied every year. With all these different types of bullying, the effects are still the same. Bullying effects everyone, not just the victim. It effects the person doing the bullying, the victim, and the bystanders that witness the bullying take place. Bullying can lead to many negative effects for the victims.(Effects of Bullying).Some effects of bullying include: suicide, decrease in academic achievement, and health issues.

Studies show that there is a link between kids who have been bullied, and kids who have committed suicide. Over 14% of high school students have attempted suicide. The thought of a child feeling like they are worthless to the extent of ending their life is just absolutely insane. A child should never feel unloved, or that everyone would be happier with them dead. Bullies do not realize the effect that they have on someone.
