CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
Coconut is also known as “tree of life” because in tropical climates is a way of life for millions of people around the globe. Coconut is a versatile product and has multiple uses. One of this is by making a charcoal out of coconut shell.
Over the years, charcoal made of coconut shell has become an equally important and profitable, not to mention its important uses during the time when electricity has not yet introduce in our country. It is among the other nature product with various uses which is the reason why even with the establishment of electricity in our place its existence is still needed, had it not been for this, energy crisis will become worst for charcoal because it also a replacement for electricity, it is used for ironing clothes and for cooking purpose instead of using flat irons and electric stove. Charcoal making can be relatively easy and proved to be a challenging business as well as an interesting venture. Easy in the sense that charcoal processing can be made manually or without resorting to modern equipment and changing in such a way that it brings in more profit although capital outlay needed is lesser. On the other hand, charcoal is an interesting venture because man continues processing charcoal; more uses of it are also discovered by persons with inventive minds.
