Flaw of Wine Tourism

Wine tourism basically is the form of tourism that is dedicated at allowing tourists from different countries to visit particular regions in order to learn, utilize, and understand wine of those particular regions. Wine refers to an alcoholic beverage that is made from fermented grapes or other types of fruits.

It is as a result of the natural chemical balance in the grapes that enhances them to ferment in the absence or simply without the addition of sugars, acids, enzymes, water or any other form of nutrients. The sugars in the grapes are consumed by yeast and convert them into alcohol and carbon dioxide.

As such, it is widely consumed during celebrations, leisure and or as accompaniments before or after meals. In this perspective and considering that grapes fair well in certain regions, majority of the wine lovers prefer certain brands mostly depending on their areas of origin (Vanasse & Drapeau, 2005).

In this case, this has had a major impact in the tourism industry. Taking for instance, France is well known for its wine, the French wine which is generally produced all over the country. As a matter of fact, the country is amongst the largest producers of the product in the global arena and has a record of around 50 to 60 million hectoliters per year (Bettini, 2013) which can be translated as 7 to 8 billion bottles.

There are many known regions that produce wine and regions that are less known. France is one particular country in Europe that is well understood for having different regions producing wine. However, within France, there are other regions that are less known in terms of wine production; for instance, the regions of Jura, Alsace, and Savoie. This essay therefore provides an in-depth examination and analysis of these wine regions with regards to the impacts of mis-know wine regions.
